Hi! I’m Valerie and welcome to Geneagenie, my page about my ancestral lines: Vance, Heisig, and Scott on my dad’s, and Moore and Polk on my mom’s side. I come from engineers, preachers, farmers, blacksmiths, judges and lawyers and their strong and smart wives, trailblazers in their own right. I have grandfathers who fought in the American Revolution, the Civil War, and the Mexican-American War.
What was life like back then? They had no modern “conveniences” but their priorities were different; they took time to write or create or be in nature or exercise their faith. We know mostly highlights. Maybe we can imagine the rest. What I do know is I come from determined and industrious folks! I’m proud to be part of their family.

Would it be possible to get digital files of some of these pictures? We are related to the Heisigs through Carla Heisig Harris, and I have a picture of Carla and her mother Vida, but most of these pictures are new to me. Thank you!
